LONG ISLAND'S ASPHALT CONTRACTOR
When a Long Island Winter Breaks, It Leaves Behind More Than Mud
When a Long Island winter finally breaks, it leaves behind more than mud, it leaves behind the cracks, heaves, and base failures your pavement has been hiding under the snow. That damage compounds fast. Whether it's a commercial parking lot on Route 110, a municipal road in Babylon Township, or a private road through a housing complex, asphalt that wasn't built right the first time doesn't survive Long Island winters.
We handle asphalt paving across Long Island with our own crews and our own equipment, no subcontractors, no handoffs. That means one point of contact, consistent quality, and a crew that knows your site from the first walkthrough to the final pass of the roller.
Every job starts with proper grading and a compacted stone base. That base is what separates asphalt that lasts 20 years from asphalt that sinks and cracks in three. Suffolk County soil has serious clay and sand variation, we account for that before the first load of hot, mix rolls in.
We work on commercial lots in Hauppauge and Melville, municipal and private roads in Babylon Township, housing complexes in Bay Shore and Deer Park, industrial facilities throughout the Route 110 corridor, and road construction and repair for commercial and municipal clients across Long Island. We size our crew and equipment to fit the project, not the other way around.

THE COMPLETE PAVING PROCESS
From Site Walk to Final Sealcoat, Every Step, One Crew
Most contractors handle one or two steps and hand the rest off. Fiorini manages the complete paving sequence with our own crew and equipment — start to finish, on Long Island, every time.
01
Site Assessment
Every project starts with a site walk — not a phone quote. We assess surface conditions, drainage, base integrity, and grade before recommending anything. Suffolk County soil varies significantly across towns — that knowledge shapes every scope we write.
02
Site Grading & Preparation
You receive a written scope spelling out exactly what the job requires — base work, milling, asphalt depth, drainage, edge work. Itemized pricing before we mobilize. No change orders after the deposit unless conditions change on site — and we tell you before it affects the cost.
03
Milling — Removing the Old Surface
Our own crew arrives on the agreed start date with our own equipment. We grade the sub-base, compact the stone, lay hot-mix asphalt in the correct lifts, and roll it to spec. We phase work to keep your property operational throughout. No subcontractors — the crew that quoted the job is the crew doing it.
04
Base Repair & Compaction
Soft spots, drainage failures, and compromised base sections are repaired and compacted before new asphalt goes down. The last opportunity to fix base problems at the right cost — before paving locks everything in.
Every step performed by Fiorini's own crew on our own equipment. No subcontractors at any stage. One call covers the full sequence — from first site walk to final sealcoat application.
HOW IT WORKS
Every Asphalt Job Starts With a Site Walk, Not a Phone Quote
Asphalt paving gets done without the property owner standing over the crew. Here's exactly how every Fiorini asphalt job runs — from first call to final pass.
01
Site Walk & Assessment
We come to your property before we price anything. We look at existing surface conditions, drainage patterns, base failures, soft spots, and ADA concerns. Suffolk County soil varies significantly, sandy near Brookhaven, clay, heavy near the South Shore. We factor that into the plan before we quote.
02
Scope & Pricing
You receive a written scope spelling out exactly what the job requires, base work, milling, asphalt depth, drainage, edge work. Itemized pricing before we mobilize. No change orders after the deposit unless conditions change on site, and we tell you before it affects the cost.
03
Execution
Our own crew arrives on the agreed start date with our own equipment. We grade the sub-base, compact the stone, lay hot, mix asphalt in the correct lifts, and roll it to spec. We phase work to keep your property operational throughout. No subcontractors , the crew that quoted the job is the crew doing it.
04
Final Walkthrough
When paving is complete, we walk the site with you. Surface checked for any touch, up, drainage confirmed flowing correctly, every edge tight and clean. If striping is part of your project, we schedule it once the asphalt has fully cured, typically within a few days.
Why Base Preparation Is the Most Important Part of Any Asphalt Job on Long Island
Most asphalt failures on Long Island aren't surface failures, they're base failures. Water gets into a crack, freezes during a Long Island winter, and expands. The asphalt breaks apart from underneath. Patching the surface doesn't fix what's happening below it.
Before any asphalt goes down on a Fiorini job, we grade the sub, base, address soft spots, and compact a properly sized stone base. The depth of that base depends on what the surface will carry, a light, duty residential driveway needs a different spec than a commercial lot handling daily delivery trucks.
Suffolk County's soil variation makes this even more critical. Sandy, well, draining soils in areas like Brookhaven behave very differently from the heavier, clay, mixed soils closer to the South Shore. We assess both before we recommend a base depth. That assessment is why our work holds up, and why property managers across Long Island have been calling us back for over 35 years.

We are a car dealership, it is a huge challenge to navigate a paving project with all the vehicles on site. Not for these guys. ABSOLUTELY A++. They were excellent at communicating exactly what needed to be done in order for the entire project to go smoothly. The parking lot looks amazing and our drain issues solved!

COMMON QUESTIONS
Asphalt Paving Questions, Straight Answers
A properly installed asphalt surface in Suffolk or Nassau County can last 20 years or more. The key is what happens before the asphalt goes down. Suffolk County soil has significant clay and sand variation — that affects how the ground shifts under load and through freeze-thaw cycles. A properly compacted stone base accounts for that. Skip that step and you'll see sinking and cracking within a few years regardless of asphalt quality.
Yes — freeze-thaw cycles are one of the biggest threats to asphalt on Long Island. Water gets into small cracks, freezes, and pushes them wider every winter. That's why base prep and proper drainage matter so much before installation. A solid, graded, compacted base gives water somewhere to drain instead of sitting under your surface and breaking it apart from underneath season after season.
Yes — we handle commercial parking lots, municipal roads, industrial facilities, housing complexes, and residential driveways across Long Island. We work regularly in Hauppauge, Melville, Bay Shore, Deer Park, Hicksville, and Garden City. We size our crew and equipment to match the project — a residential driveway gets a different crew setup than a 20,000-square-foot commercial lot.
A full installation starts with grading the area and building a compacted stone base sized for the traffic load. Then hot-mix asphalt goes down in the correct lifts and gets rolled for a smooth, even, compacted surface. We handle every step with our own crews and equipment. No subcontractors. One point of contact from the first site walk to the final pass of the roller.
Full replacement makes sense when the base layer has failed — widespread alligator cracking, potholes that keep coming back, or soft spots that flex under traffic. Resurfacing (mill and overlay) works when the base is still structurally sound but the surface has deteriorated. We tell you which one you actually need after a site walk — not based on what's more profitable for us.
Spring through fall is the best window. Asphalt needs to be laid above certain temperatures to bond and compact correctly — we avoid paving during sustained temperatures below 50°F. Long Island's coastal salt exposure also accelerates surface breakdown, so material selection matters year-round. We can work in winter on the right days but we'll tell you honestly if the timing isn't right for your project.
Always. Every project starts with a site walk, followed by a written scope of work with itemized pricing. No verbal quotes, no surprises after mobilization. If conditions on site change what the job requires, we tell you before it affects the cost — not after. That's how we've worked across Long Island for over 35 years.
